Curious about writing songs? Whether you’re a musician, producer, lyric writer, poet or someone with ideas you’d like to turn into music, this course will help you explore the creative process behind songwriting and start developing your own songs.
Over five weeks, you’ll explore how songs are built and learn how to turn inspiration into original music. Through guided exercises, listening examples and creative workshops, you’ll learn about:
- How lyrics, melody, chords and song structure work together
- How to find ideas and overcome writer’s block
- How verses, choruses and other song sections shape a song’s journey
- How melody, rhythm and harmony can bring emotion and meaning to your writing
- How to develop, rewrite and refine your songs through feedback and self-editing
You’ll experiment with different songwriting approaches, explore creative techniques and build your confidence in a supportive group where you can share ideas and try things out.
Led by experienced singer-songwriter Frankie Jobling, this course will give you practical tools to keep developing your songwriting beyond the sessions.
Your songwriting journey doesn’t have to stop when this course ends. Our new weekly Songwriting Social is a space to keep writing, experimenting and connecting with other songwriters in a relaxed, creative space – find out more here.
This class is for adults over 18.
