Who’s on stage
Rapasa Nyatrapasa Otieno is a Kenyan singer, songwriter and virtuoso of the nyatiti. He’ll join an orchestral ensemble made up of Royal Northern Sinfonia and RNS Moves musicians.
What they’re playing
Rapasa Nyatrapasa Otieno introduces us to the nyatti, a traditional eight-string lyre from the shores of Nam Lolwe (Kenya’s Lake Victoria), and takes us through his beautiful compositions, deeply rooted in traditional storytelling from the Lüo community in western Kenya.
You’ll also hear music by African composers Ayo Bankole and Tunde Jegede, Welsh harpist Robert Ap Huw, Antonín Dvořák and Jessie Montgomery.
