Noble. Tragic. Shaped by secret love.
Who’s on stage
The Fibonacci Quartet brings together musicians from across Europe, having formed at London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
They’ve quickly made an impact on the international stage, winning both First Prize and the Audience Prize at the Premio Paolo Borciani International String Quartet Competition in 2024.
What they’re playing
Haydn’s ‘Emperor’quartet takes its name from a theme that later became the German national anthem. At its heart is a set of variations – simple, noble, and quietly powerful. Berg’s Lyric Suite tells a more private story. Filled with hidden references to a secret relationship, it moves between tenderness and intensity, with moments of both stillness and emotional urgency.
Tchaikovsky’s Third String Quartet is his final work in the form. Written in a dark, weighty key, it includes a deeply felt funeral march before turning towards a more upbeat and energetic close.
