£100 for a 5 week course (3hours a week)

Curious about writing songs? Whether you’re a musician, songwriter, producer, poet or just someone who loves music, this course will help you understand the building blocks behind the songs you love.

You’ll explore how melody, harmony and song structure work together to create songs that connect and flow. Through guided exercises, listening examples and creative workshops, you’ll learn about:

  • How harmony works in songwriting
  • How chords come together to create progressions
  • The musical ingredients songwriters use to shape a song
  • How to listen to and understand your favourite songs

You don’t need any advanced theory knowledge – just curiosity, a love of music.

Over five weeks, you’ll work in a small group where you’ll have time to develop ideas, ask questions and explore different approaches to songwriting with guidance from experienced musician Grace Alexander.

By the end of the course, you’ll have a deeper understanding of the music you love and the tools to create original songs of your own.

Your songwriting journey doesn’t have to stop when this course ends. Our new weekly Songwriting Social is a space to keep writing, experimenting and connecting with other songwriters in a relaxed, creative space. – find out more here.

This class is for adults over 18.
