Heart-warming. Hilarious. Fun for the whole family.

Who’s on stage

Our amazing orchestra Royal Northern Sinfonia plays the music to this festive film on the big screen. The Glasshouse choir, Voices of the River’s Edge, completes the magic by singing the main theme Somewhere in My Memory.

What they’re playing

John Williams’ charming score (he also wrote the music to Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and loads of other family favourites). Expect lots of sleigh bells, twinkly tunes, festive pop hits like Jingle Bell Rock and, of course, this film’s very own theme Somewhere in My Memory.

What's happening on screen?

“KEVIN!!!”

This movie is an old favourite for lots of people – and quickly becomes a new favourite if you’re seeing it for the first time. The heartwarming and hilarious Christmas classic sees 8-year-old Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) accidentally left behind when his family goes on holiday for Christmas, where he revels in his newfound freedom. However, his joy is short-lived when he discovers that two bumbling burglars, Harry and Marv (Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern), plan to rob his home. Kevin devises a series of ingenious traps to defend his house, turning it into a booby-trapped fortress. The film is a delightful blend of slapstick humor and tender moments as Kevin learns the importance of family and the true meaning of Christmas.

Haven’t I seen the cast before?

Macaulay Culkin was one of those child actors from the 90’s that appeared in loads of hits. Remember Ritchie Rich?! The fun and bubbly John Candy appears in this one too. Macaulay Culkin’s brother – Kieran – plays one of the kids in this… you might recognise him now as Roman in Succession. And who could forget Catherine O’Hara, playing Kevin’s mother, who lots of us remember from films like Beetlejuice, TV shows like Schitt’s Creek and more recently the newest release of Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice.
