Vivaldi's Four Seasons

Vivaldi's Four Seasons

The Sands Centre, Carlisle

Who’s on stage

Royal Northern Sinfonia, with their Artistic Partner Maria Włoszczowska directing and stepping into the solo spot.

What they’re playing

It’s got barking dogs, people shivering and stamping their feet to keep warm, singing birds, rustic bagpipes… and on the tune front, just banger after banger. There’s a reason why Vivaldi’s Four Seasons is an evergreen audience favourite. Despite being written 300 years ago and popping up everywhere from call centre hold lines to elevator music to countless ads, it’s music that, heard live, always sounds totally box-fresh.

What you'll hear

Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber Sonata Representativa
Georg Muffat Concerto Grosso No. 4
Georg Philipp Telemann Overture-Suite, Burlesque de Don Quichotte
Antonio Vivaldi The Four Seasons

Who's playing it

Maria Włoszczowska director/violin
Royal Northern Sinfonia
