Turn Up The Quiet: D.I.Y
Find out more about different pathways in the music industry and gain knowledge, skills and tips on creating new music in your home. Join TUTQ to progress your new creative ideas, whether existing or starting from scratch.
These sessions will consist of DIY (do it yourself) workshops from artists, producers and songwriters who will support you to develop skills, creative ideas and new music. There will also be a series of masterclasses during which visiting female artists will talk about their creative practice, work and experience as professional artists, as well as the opportunity to achieve Bronze Arts Award accreditation.

Spring Term Dates & Times:
Thursdays at 4.30pm during term time, starting Thursday 20 January
Half Term: There will be no Turn Up The Quiet: D.I.Y Thursday 17th & 24th February for half term.
The final sessions of this term will be led by music producer and songwriter Holly Rees at Production Room. These music tech sessions will focus on building knowledge and skills on how a recording studio setup works through fun practical tasks creating, recording, editing and mixing music.
If you’ve been writing music in some of the TUTQ sessions so far, you’ll get hands-on experience of recording these songs to create demos with multiple instrument and programmed parts using music software and equipment available in the studio.
Production Room is a professional recording and production space in Newcastle. Owned and run by local music producer and teacher Lisa Murphy, the studio has been home to several projects to support more women to work in music production, as well as the place where many local artists have recorded and mixed music which they have gone on to release.
