Enchanting. Magical. A moment of escape.

Immerse yourself in Maurice Ravel’s beautiful ‘fairytale for orchestra’ – Mother Goose – in our free installation.

Tucked away in a forgotten corner of our building, you’ll explore Ravel’s fairytale score through a series of ‘magic’ sound boxes; each a world of its own bringing Ravel’s music to life in a whole new way.

Created by artist James Bulley, each box lets you to step into a classic Mother Goose tale including Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast, using natural elements, collage, field recordings and music recorded by Royal Northern Sinfonia and our Principal Conductor Dinis Sousa.

A perfect way to learn more about this beautiful work – and enjoy a free, unexpected musical experience on your next visit.

Co-commissioned by The Glasshouse International Centre for Music and Mediale to celebrate Ravel’s 150th anniversary.
