Sing for Unity
United. Joyful. Add your voice.
On Sunday 20 September, people around the world will gather to sing at exactly the same local time. As each choir finishes, another picks up the song in the next time zone, creating a wave of music that circles the globe.
It’s all part of Sing for Unity – a worldwide celebration of community, hope and peace, marking the UN International Day of Peace.
Here at The Glasshouse, Juliette Tate will lead a choir on the Concourse as we add our voices to thousands of others across the world.
You don’t have to be in the choir to be part of it. If you know the songs, sing along. If not, come and listen. Stop for five minutes or stay for the whole thing. Just by being here, you’ll be helping create a moment that’s shared far beyond the banks of the Tyne.
Because when thousands of people sing together, even from different corners of the world, it reminds us of something simple. We’ve got more in common than what sets us apart.
