Sing and Record with The Unthanks

Notching up 20 years as a band this year, The Unthanks plan to release a best-of record to celebrate, and this could be your chance to feature!
You are invited to become part of a choir for one day only. There will be workshops to learn two songs in the morning, and a recording session in the afternoon to capture it. The Unthanks have been hosting singing residential weekends across the North East for the past 15 years and hope with this event to capture their spirit on record, marking just how valuable their annual participatory get-togethers have been to their artistic process and survival in today’s music world. To round off the day we’ll be gathering at 6pm for a folk session at The Cumberland Arms – you don’t need to book a place for this bit, everyone is welcome!

Venue: Northern Rock Foundation Hall at The Glasshouse
Price: Free; but please make sure you can commit to coming along if you book as places are limited. PLEASE NOTE: This session is now fully booked. Please keep an eye on this page, or make sure you’re following us on social media for any ticket news. Our WhatsApp channel is a great way to get the latest on ticket releases.
Age: 18+. While there is no other criteria for joining in, it’s recommended that you have some previous experience of group-singing.

10.45am – 11am Arrival
11am – 1pm Singing workshop led by The Unthanks
1pm – 2pm Break (The café will be open but you’re also welcome to bring your own food)
2pm – 4pm Recording session
4pm – 6pm Break
6pm – 8pm Singing session at The Cumberland Arms (FREE and all welcome)
