What's happening in the music?

Opening with the elegant curtain music from Henry Purcell’s Timon of Athens, the programme moves through the glowing harmonies of Caroline Shaw and the still, meditative beauty of Arvo Pärt’s Spiegel im Spiegel. Markus Zahnhausen’s Lux Aeterna and Mozart’s delicate Adagio for Glass Harmonica bring moments of light and reflection, before Dani Howard’s sparkling Vino Encores adds a burst of energy. The evening closes with the third movement of Philip Glass’s Symphony No. 3, where pulsing rhythms and shimmering strings create a sound world that’s both hypnotic and deeply moving. A chance to slow down, switch off and immerse yourself in beautiful music.
