Enchanting. Ethereal. Masters of Indian Classical.
Pandit Prattyush Banerjee pushes the boundaries of the modern sarod, combining superb solo musicianship with innovations in composition and instrument design. Born in Kolkata, he grew up around the sounds of top musicians who visited the family home to see his father, a well-known music collector. Prattyush’s music blends the rich tradition of Shahjahanpur Gharana and the distinctive vocal and instrumental elements of northern India. His mastery of the genre has evolved through experimentation that journeys through tradition and contemporary.
Accompanying Prattyush will be Pandit Rajkumar Misra, the incredible tabla maestro who represents the seventh generation of a long line of Indian classical mastery. Bringing the tradition of his Jaipur Gharana, Rajkumar will be sure to captivate!
Presented by GemArts and The Glasshouse International Centre for Music.
