Sage One is transformed into an opera house as Royal Northern Sinfonia and Nevill Holt Opera present a fully-staged production of La Cenerentola (Cinderella) by Gioachino Rossini (The Barber of Seville).
In this comic yet heartfelt version of the famous fairytale, Angelina is forced to serve as a maid to her stepfather Don Magnifico and stepsisters Clorinda and Tisbe until everything changes when prince Don Ramiro arrives in search of a wife. There’s not a pumpkin or glass slipper in sight, and the fairy godmother is replaced by wise philosopher Alidoro, but this witty, lyrical opera is still full of magic and sparkle as kindness triumphs and the lovers find their happy ever after.
