Sage Gateshead presents...
Rhiannon Giddens & Francesco Turrisi
Rhiannon Giddens is an American artist of folk and traditional music, played on fiddle and banjo. Francesco Turrisi is an Italian pianist and percussionist well versed in jazz, early music and Mediterranean music.
Rhiannon has had a fruitful period of collaboration with Francesco Turrisi, with the Grammy-nominated album there is no Other in 2019 and the Grammy-winning album They’re Calling Me Home in 2021.
“(Shows) the ease with which the boundaries of genre and nationality can be broken through music. There, this album dwells: in the quiet times where people live fully with each other…Giddens turns her exquisite voice and sensibility toward this psychic territory…(an) exploration of heartfelt exchange and private longing.” – NRP
We can’t wait to see them performing live at Sage Gateshead again in 2023.
