Fresh. Magnificent. Bill Evans reimagined.
San Francisco’s JITN rising star vocalist Noa Levy joins Parliamentary Award winner London based pianist Paul Edis and his Trio in their new album “Portrait In Evans”. Set to be released in March 2026, the album features the original music of Bill Evans with new lyrics, vocal interpretations and original arrangements.
Appearing alongside Noa and Paul is UK Jazz legend, Alan Barnes, and completing the lineup are one of the finest rhythm sections around, with Andy Champion (double bass) and Steve Hanley (drums).

Noa Levy
Currently lighting up San Francisco Bay Area’s jazz scene, Noa Levy captivates audiences with a swinging, authentic sound that JAZZIT Magazine calls “at the same time classic and contemporary.” Winner of the Sheila Jordan Award for her Voice & Bass Album Debut (with Japanese Bass Player Shimpei Ogawa), Noa’s performances at prestigious venues like SFJAZZ and The Fillmore showcase her “expertly rendered selections” (NYC Jazz Record), and draw inspiration from her heroines Ella Fitzgerald and Carmen McRae.
Paul Edis
Paul Edis stands as one of the UK’s leading creative musicians, earning prestigious recognition including Best Album at the 2023 Parliamentary Jazz Awards alongside vocalist Jo Harrop. His appearances alongside a host of jazz luminaries (including Jon Faddis, Tim Garland, Jim Mullen) showcase his versatility as a performer, while his original compositions demonstrate his passionate commitment to melody and creative innovation within both jazz and classical traditions. Described by Jazz Journal as “a major voice in British Jazz,” Paul brings depth and sophistication to every performance.
Alan Barnes
In a career spanning 5 decades, multi award-winning saxophonist and clarinet player Alan Bares has worked alongside the very best in the business, (Wynton Marsalis, Stan Tracey, Van Morrison). He regularly tours the world, appearing both as a guest soloist and leading his own bands, and he continues to compose new music and release new albums.
Andy Champion
Andy Champion is a bassist, composer and improviser. Andy can often be seen performing with his wife, the 2019 Parliamentary Jazz Awards Vocalist of the Year, Zoë Gilby. He led his own progressive jazz quintet, ACV, releasing two critically acclaimed albums and touring nationwide; including a performance at the Edinburgh Festival for a live broadcast on BBC Radio 3.
For many years, Andy was bass chair in Voice of the North Jazz Orchestra. He’s also performed with Jim Mullen, Ingrid Jensen, Tony Kofi and Jason Yarde; and was a soloist with Royal Northern Sinfonia for the 2013 performance of Ian Carr’s ‘Northumbrian Sketches’. Andy participated in the ‘Take Five’ development scheme for outstanding young musicians. Beyond jazz, he plays in multiple improvised music settings including SHIVER with Chris Sharkey, Corey Mwamba’s NTH. He’s performed and recorded with Marilyn Crispell, Matt Manari, Eugene Chadbourne, Marc Ducret and more.
Steve Hanley
Drummer Steve Hanley, 1st class honors graduate of Leeds Conservatoire is part of a fresh generation of musicians from the northern quarter of the UK. Hanley has performed and collaborated with many prestigious artists including Mike Walker (Impossible Gentleman), Ant Law (Tim Garland), Stuart McCallum (Cinematic Orchestra) and Jim Corry (Jamiroquai) to name a few. Hanley has been a JazzNorth ambassador since 2014 and has appeared in many ensembles across the northern line rosters to date, with one such band (Family Band) going on to represent the UK at the 2019 12 Points Festival hosted at the Bimhuis, Amsterdam.
Recently, Hanley was nominated for a Parliamentary Jazz Award for ‘Ensemble of the year’ with ‘Ubunye’ which they went onto win in July 2023. As well as extensive touring across the UK and Europe, Hanley enjoys lecturing at the University of Hull and Leeds Conservatoire. Hanley’s approach generates a unique voice, through intrinsic grooves and free flowing melodic improvisation.
