Who’s on stage
It goes without saying that we think all our musical guests here at The Glasshouse are brilliant. And of course Jean-Efflam Bavouzet is. But he’s not just that. He’s a bit flamboyant, a risk-taker, and someone who is anything but a ‘cookie cutter’ musician – a real one off. We’re very excited to have him with us for this solo show.
What they’re playing
This concert is big on the music of Claude Debussy. Without wanting to resort to stereotypes his music is distinctively French – sophisticated, decadent, rich, even luxurious. Think really amazing French food but in musical form.

What's happening in the music
Debussy’s music in the concert includes Pour Le Piano, a piece that’s got loads of charm and drama. Also on the bill are two ‘Toccata’s’ – music that’s full of rapid runs, high harmonies and tons of impressive acrobatics on the piano, plus his suite that is ‘Bergamo-esque’, inspired by the folk music of the Italian city. This is a high energy programme guaranteed to leave you smiling.
