Transcendent. Fusion. Ancient Sufi spirituality meets orchestral innovation.
Experience the Magic of The Orchestral Qawwali Project.
Making its Gateshead debut, The Orchestral Qawwali Project is a groundbreaking musical fusion led by acclaimed composer Rushil Ranjan and renowned vocalist Abi Sampa. This critically celebrated ensemble breathes new life into centuries-old traditions reframing the spiritual rapture of Sufi music through Rushil’s rich orchestral scores, blending Western classical with South Asian music and Indian classical dance.
After a series of sell-out performances across the UK – including a standout show at the Royal Albert Hall in 2024 – the project’s creators were named Associate Artists of the venue. Praised by The Times as “a transportingly beautiful tapestry of sound that you just wouldn’t hear anywhere else,” this is a unique sonic experience not to be missed.
