Energetic. Vibrant. A summer stroll by the river.
Who’s on stage
The Doric Quartet is a string ensemble that has been captivating audiences worldwide. Tonight, you can catch their elegant and intimate playing in the beautiful surroundings of Sage Two.
What they’re playing
Beethoven’s String Quartet in D Major will transport you on a warm summer stroll along the riverside, birds dancing happily in the sky above and the gentle chatter of people walking hand in hand as they pass by. It’s a piece filled with sunny energy. You’ll also hear his dazzling Quartet in E-flat – affectionately known as ‘Harp’ thanks to its plucking, harp-like passages. Haydn’s String Quartet in F Minor was written as part of his famous Sun quartets, but be warned, beneath the parasol lies a darker character.
