Join us for our second Sage Sessions event live on the Sage One stage. Sage Sessions is a series of concerts designed to give you a taster of a wide range of artists playing a variety of genres – a chance to try something new in the comfort of your home.
Recently we’ve presented short performances from unusual corners of Sage Gateshead but now the series returns to the main stage and two solo artists join us for a feast of ambient and alternative music, visuals and movement.
Tickets for this live stream are Pay What You Decide, so you get to choose how much to pay for your ticket. Fancy something different – why not give this a try?
Watch On Demand!
Tonight’s concert will be streamed live, then from midnight it will be available on demand until midnight on Friday 28 May. Please join us for the live performance, then watch again as many times as you wish for free. The on demand video can be accessed the same way as the live stream. Dyskinetic is the musical adventures of singer/songwriter Kris Halpin. A disabled musician, Kris uses Imogen Heap’s groundbreaking MiMu Gloves to create music using hand gestures and overcome access barriers. His music explores the space between electronic music & rock through futuristic technology. His influences include Deftones, Bjork, Depeche Mode and Smashing Pumpkins.
Kris has performed all over the world with appearances at Birmingham Symphony Hall, Kawasaki Symphony Hall & the Kennedy Center, DC. Performing specially commissioned music created in collaboration with choreographer Ayaka Takai, Kris will use the gloves to generate music based on his natural movements rather than treating them as an ‘instrument’ to play. He will also be debuting three songs, never heard before by the public, and performing some existing music.
Emerging ambient artist, musician and composer, SL Walkinshaw is normally seen in a collaborative role with other musicians in his projects (including Tyneside experimental duo Ten Sticks).
His debut ‘Tape/String’ released through Singing Light earlier this year, was spawned by Stuart experimenting with cassette tapes in his possession from across the decades. The results are at once haunting, hypnotic and enveloping. Sonically and creatively Walkinshaw’s musical instinct draws in from the same pool as inspires William Baskinski, Liz Harris, Keiran Hebden and Christian Fennesz.
