Elgar's The Music Makers

Elgar's The Music Makers

Part of Royal Northern Sinfonia: Out and about

Huddersfield Town Hall

Who’s on stage

Royal Northern Sinfonia’s Associate Conductor Ellie Slorach and Royal Northern Sinfonia join Huddersfield Choral Society for a concert celebrating their 190th birthday.

What they’re playing

Three pieces of music that do what music does best: bring people together, stir emotions, and leave us walking out into the night changed by what we’ve heard.

Enjoy Henry Purcell’s Ode for St. Cecilia’s Day –  over 300 years old but still bursting with energy and full of life today. Then a new work by Kristina Arakelyan, written especially for the occasion as a companion to the concert’s final piece and namesake, Edward Elgar’s The Music Makers. Sweeping and emotional, The Music Makers is about music’s power to shape who we are and how we connect. It feels like a love letter to every musician and every listener.
