Mozart's Clarinet Concerto

Mozart's Clarinet Concerto

The Sands Centre, Carlisle

Who’s on stage

Clarinettist Julian Bliss, conductor Ana María Patiño-Osorio and Royal Northern Sinfonia are on stage for tonight’s performance.

What they’re playing

We start out at sea with Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture - all rolling waves and salty air. Then it’s Mozart at his most open and expressive, with a clarinet line that feels almost like someone singing straight to you. Mendelssohn’s ‘Italian’ Symphony sweeps everything along in a rush of sunshine, movement and pure joy.

What you'll hear

Felix Mendelssohn The Hebrides Overture ‘Fingal’s Cave’
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Clarinet Concerto
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Chaconne from Idomeneo
Felix Mendelssohn Symphony No.4 ‘Italian’

Who's playing it

Ana María Patiño-Osorio conductor
Julian Bliss clarinet
