Jeremy Denk plays Mozart Piano Concertos III
Who’s on stage
Jeremy Denk, Maria Włoszczowska and Royal Northern Sinfonia round off a three-night celebration of Mozart’s extraordinary piano concertos at Lammermuir Festival.
What they’re playing
A thrilling finale. Mozart’s dramatic Piano Concerto No. 24 is proper drama from beginning to end, with a dark edge thanks to its unusual minor key. Piano Concerto No. 25 is bold and majestic, with a march that’s been suggested as inspiration for La Marseillaise (the French national anthem). Plus Britten’s Variations on a Theme of Frank Bridge, an affectionate musical portrait and tribute to his long-time teacher.
