Lammermuir Festival: Jeremy Denk Plays Mozart Piano Concertos I
Who’s on stage
Royal Northern Sinfonia and Artistic Partner Maria Włoszczowska join pianist Jeremy Denk for a set of three unmissable concerts at the Lammermuir Festival. Long-time musical collaborators and friends, Denk and Włoszczowska have shared stages from New York to Scotland and now reunite at Lammermuir for a deep dive into Mozart’s extraordinary piano concertos.
What they’re playing
For this opening concert, youthful invention takes centre stage. Mozart’s ‘Jeunehomme’ brims with excitement, the piano announcing its presence right from the start. It’s paired with Concerto No. 14 – its restless moods like the turbulent dramas and passions of youth. And Janáček’s Mládí, or “Youth” shines a light on the wind section, a nostalgic look back full of jaunty rhythm and fizzing texture.
