Jeremy Denk Plays Mozart Piano Concertos II
Who’s on stage
Royal Northern Sinfonia, Artistic Partner Maria Włoszczowska and pianist Jeremy Denk reunite for the second of three concerts exploring Mozart’s piano concertos at Lammermuir Festival.
What they’re playing
All the drama of an opera, distilled for piano and orchestra. Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 17 sparkles with the light and shade of a turbulent autumn day, while storm clouds roll in for the darker Piano Concerto No. 20. Stravinsky’s Concerto in D gives the strings a workout in slinky melodies and propulsive rhythms. When you hear its twists and turns live, it’s easy to see why it’s been used for four different ballet productions.
