Haydn's Farewell

Haydn's Farewell

Part of Royal Northern Sinfonia: Out and about

St Mary's Church, Wooler

Who’s on stage

Royal Northern Sinfonia head to St Mary’s Church, Wooler for an all Haydn extravaganza directed by Artistic Partner Maria Włoszczowska.

What they’re playing

A suitably radiant depiction of sunrise starts this concert with Haydn’s ‘The Morning’ symphony, also including a comic send-up of a music lesson. Haydn’s Violin Concerto is intimate and beautiful – a simply lovely piece of music. To finish, we have one of the composer’s most witty moments, when players leave the stage one by one at the close of his ‘Farewell’ symphony until just two violinists are left…

What you'll hear

Franz Joseph Haydn Symphony No. 6 ‘Le Matin’
Franz Joseph Haydn Violin Concerto No. 4
Franz Joseph Haydn Symphony No. 45 ‘Farewell

Who's playing it
