What's happening in the music?

A suitably radiant depiction of sunrise starts this concert with Haydn’s ‘The Morning’ symphony, also including a comic send-up of a music lesson. Haydn’s Violin Concerto is intimate and beautiful – a simply lovely piece of music. To finish, we have one of the composer’s most witty moments, when players leave the stage one by one at the close of his ‘Farewell’ symphony until just two violinists are left…
