What's happening in the music
Sometimes you take things for granted. Handel’s Messiah might be one of them. Classical fans know it backwards. Even those only vaguely into classical music could probably hum along to the Hallelujah Chorus. But however well you know it, Handel is such a brilliant writer that he never lets you take it for granted once it’s there, live, happening in front of you. It’s an ever-dramatic roller-coaster of emotion that takes in rage, sorrow, joy and jubilation – and perfect for the festive season.
