The Early Purple
The Early Purple is led by Northumbrian indie-folk musician Matt Saxon. Combining Fleet Foxes’ allure with Midlake’s depth, their sound features three-part vocal harmonies, finger-picking acoustic guitars, ethereal synths, and gentle driving percussion.
For the last couple of years Matt’s been working with producer Will Thorneycroft (Lovely Assistant, The Dawdler) and just three singles and an EP into their journey, fans of introspective indie-folk are falling for Matt’s evocative storytelling.
After sharing stages with acts like Flyte, Efterklang, Hector Gannet and Bernard Butler The Early Purple kicked off the year with a packed hometown show at The Cluny. Now hidden away in Northumberland, Matt’s creating a follow-up to his debut EP ‘Summer Hide’ while refining a live performance for upcoming festival shows.
Lovely Assistant
Lovely Assistant’s members hail from Newcastle, Northumberland, Leeds and London respectively. They were brought together as a genre-defying four-piece by the Newcastle music scene, meeting at gigs and venues in 2018 before deciding to explore College Rock, New Lounge and New Wave influenced by the torch-songs of the fifties through to J.J. Cale, Arthur Russell, Prefab Sprout and The Blue Nile.
After an acclaimed debut vinyl release, Greetings From The Pre-wave, Lovely Assistant retreated to a farmhouse in the midlands to write and record a follow-up with support from The Glasshouse. Through Generator, they were able to get three tracks Executive Produced by Thom Lewis (producer of both Sam Fender albums) and engineered at Blank studios. The album was mastered by J.J. Golden (Black Pumas, Cate LeBon, Soundgarden) in Ventura, CA. It’ll be released in 2025 before they tour UK village halls.
Steff Mundi
Steff Mundi is a singer/songwriter, musician and producer based in the North East. Her music pulls from genres like Folk, Jazz, Lo-fi indie Pop and IDM. ‘Clementine,’ her single released in 2023, issued as a demo of the month in Narc and claimed ‘a masterful stroke of writing’ a hybrid of acoustic and electronic, is the first taste of music to come in 2024.
