Eliza Carthy: Solo Tour
plus Jennifer Reid
Mystical. Multifaceted. A pleasing twist on tradition.
Eliza Carthy MBE is forward-thinking and vibrant, embodying the current English folk revival. She’s one of the most impressive, engaging, and important performers of her generation.
The self-described modern English musician grew up immersed in the world of traditional music with her folk legend parents; Martin Carthy and Norma Waterson. From an early age she was championed by John Peel, Andy Kershaw and Billy Bragg.
Beloved of staunch traditionalists and free spirits alike, Eliza’s music effortlessly crosses genre and style boundaries. Whether solo or fronting a big band, playing a centuries-old ballad or a self-written song, her powerful voice, fiercely beautiful fiddle-playing, and mesmerizing performances influence young musicians.
With many accolades including two Mercury Prize nominations across her thirty-year career, Eliza’s performed and recorded around the world with artists including Paul Weller, Rufus & Martha Wainwright, Patrick Wolf, and Jarvis Cocker.
