The World’s No1 Eric Clapton tribute band make a comeback at The Glasshouse for a special one-off concert celebrating 40 years since their first ever gig which took place in Newcastle. It’ll be the full Classic Clapton band’s first performance in nearly two years.
Classic Clapton features front-man Mike Hall who not only looks like Eric, he sings and plays guitar like him too! The band comprises four excellent musicians who recreate Slowhand’s electrifying stage performances. All of EC’s illustrious career is covered. Think Cream, The Bluesbreakers, The Yardbirds, Blind Faith, Derek & The Dominos and the solo years.
Classic Clapton have toured throughout the UK playing sell-out shows along with appearances at The Royal Festival Hall and Glastonbury, where they went down a storm. In recent years they have played concerts in Europe across Spain, Estonia, Holland & France. They even toured India in 2009 and 2016 plus they played Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2017.

Classic Clapton’s 2025 show marks 40 years since the band formed in Newcastle long before the term tribute band was invented. They originally named themselves ”After Midnight” after Eric Clapton’s first solo hit. Their first gig was at The Cumberland Arms, Byker on 5 December 1985 and since then they’ve become one of the best-loved bands on Tyneside.
Fast forward to the present day, Classic Clapton’s show is a two-hour journey through the music of Eric Clapton including all of his hits – ‘Wonderful Tonight,’ ‘I Shot The Sheriff,’ ‘Lay Down Sally,’ ‘Crossroads,’ ‘Tears in Heaven,’ ‘Layla’ and even an unplugged segment.
