Twenty years on from winning the Danny Kyle Open Stage Award at Celtic Connections, Breabach remain securely at the forefront of Scotland’s thriving traditional music scene as one of its most skilled and imaginative contemporary folk acts. Breabach combine deep Highland and Island Gaelic roots with progressive musical influences, cultivating a unique sound, anchoring double bagpipes, fiddle, step dance and vocals with energetic double bass and guitar accompaniment. The band will mark this celebratory year by playing beloved venues including The Glasshouse.

About the band
Breabach’s core values over the past 20 years have been versatility, love of experimentation and willingness to push Scottish roots music’s boundaries. They’ve embraced many pioneering cross-genre collaborations, linking up with artists like Quebec’s Le Vent du Nord, BAFTA award-winning animator Cat Bruce, indigenous Australasian artist Moana & the Tribe, video game composer Big Giant Circles, Cape Breton powerhouse Beòlach and most recently the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra.
With 8 critically acclaimed albums to-date, global tours and recognition at 6 BBC ALBA Traditional Music Awards, German Record Critic’s Award (2023) and as European Folk Group of the year finalists at the Songlines Awards, Breabach show no sign of slowing. Their adventures continue in this special anniversary year with shows and festivals across the UK, USA and Europe.
