Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony

Who’s on stage
Pianist Stephen Hough shows why he’s one of the best when he joins Musical Director Dinis Sousa and orchestra Royal Northern Sinfonia for an evening of big emotions and even bigger music.
What they’re playing
This one’s indulgent – in the best possible way. Brahms’ First Piano Concerto is a true heavyweight: fiery, intricate, and made to dazzle. Then it’s Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony, bursting with rhythm and spirit. Richard Wagner called it ‘the apotheosis (peak) of the dance’ and he wasn’t wrong. It’s a joyful, driving, full-tilt finish.
This concert includes a free pre-concert talk at 6.30pm in The Old Fire Station
