Beethoven's Fifth Symphony

THIS EVENT HAS PASSED

Who’s on stage

Dynamic conductor Delyana Lazarova and extraordinary cellist Samuel Niederhauser join Royal Northern Sinfonia.

What they’re playing

Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto is tense and attention-grabbing from the start, it draws you right in, lets you relax a little, and then ratchets things up in a nail-biting ending.  Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony is an epic musical journey that begins with those iconic four da-da-da-daaaa notes. Carlos Simon’s piece, full of shimmering melodies, is inspired by Beethoven’s music and starts the evening with high drama.

What you'll hear

Carlos Simon Fate Now Conquers
Dmitri Shostakovich Cello Concerto No. 1
Ludwig van Beethoven Symphony No. 5

Who's playing it

Delyana Lazarova conductor
Samuel Niederhauser cello
Royal Northern Sinfonia
Due to injury, Jaemin Han is sadly unable to perform with the orchestra, but we’re incredibly grateful to Samuel Niederhauser for stepping in.
