BBC Proms: Introducing Stage

Part of BBC Proms

No Ticket Required

Our BBC Proms FREE Introducing Stage is back and this year it’s in partnership with BBC Introducing and Radio 3 New Generation Artists.

Head along to our concourse on Saturday 26 July between 12pm and 5.15pm to catch top BBC Introducing ‘ones to watch’ and the hottest New Generation artists as they take to the stage as part of our BBC Proms festival weekend.

Check out the full line-up below.

Smith and Liddle | 1pm

Retro. Radiant. Straight from the heart.

Smith & Liddle make music that feels like your flicking through a sun-drenched record collection in the 60’s and 70’s. Beats that move, soft rock warmth, and West Coast soul. Their debut single Piece of You is the first taste of an album set to land in late 2025 – and it’s already turning heads.

Billy Smith and Elizabeth Liddle grew up just 25 miles apart but only met years later, bonding over battered vinyl and a shared love of Laurel Canyon sounds. What started with swapping records has grown into a deep musical connection, full of joyful harmonies, jangly guitars and lyrics that feel like pages torn from a diary.

They kick off our BBC Introducing stage with an electric performance.

Will we see you there?

Frankie Archer | 1.45pm

Fierce. Futuristic. Folk – but not as you know it.

Frankie Archer has exploded onto the electrofolk scene with music that transcends stereotypes using a combination of manipulated samples, synths, drum tracks and earthy
Northumbrian fiddle and voice to capture her audience. Her aim? To shake up genres and traditions, challenge perspectives and call for a fairer future.

Since dropping her debut EP Never So Red, she’s been spotlighted by Later… With Jools Holland, picked up fans at BBC Radio 2 and 6Music, and shared stages with The Futureheads and The Last Dinner Party. Her live sets are intense, emotional, and impossible to ignore.

You might have caught her recently at The Glasshouse as artist in residence or performing at BBC Proms last year. If not… What are you waiting for?

Amelia Coburn | 2.30pm

Lush. Theatrical. Packs an emotional punch.

Amelia Coburn’s music is full of characters – vengeful widows, dreamy romantics, and figures plucked from noir films and shadowy novels. Her sound mixes jazz, folk, baroque pop and a dash of psychedelia, all wrapped in a voice that’s crystal-clear and cut through with old-school glamour.

A BBC Folk Awards finalist, Amelia’s live shows are magnetic part cabaret, part confession, always unforgettable. Her debut album Between the Moon and the Milkman, produced by Bill Ryder-Jones, is out now.

Make sure you join us to see what all the fuss is about.

Astatine Trio | 3.45pm

Playful. Sharp. Turns chamber music on its head.

Astatine Trio might be fairly new on the scene – but they’re already making serious waves. Since forming in 2021, this piano trio has been racking up prizes and plaudits across Europe, turning heads with their sharp playing and bold programming.

They’ve just been named BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists for 2025–27. And earlier this year, they became the first UK-based group ever to win a main prize at the Franz Schubert and Modern Music Competition in Austria – one of the toughest and most respected contests going.

Add in wins in Birmingham, Italy, and Lyon, and it’s clear this trio’s got something special. Their mentors include the legendary Alfred Brendel, and they’ve already taken to stages like Wigmore Hall and St George’s Bristol – plus a spot on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune.

Fergus McCreadie | 4.30pm

Jazzy. Earthy. Feels like walking through a glen.

Fergus McCreadie’s music sounds like home – if your home happens to be nestled between pine forests, rain-dashed hills, and ancient rivers. Drawing on the rhythms and textures of Scottish folk and jazz, his playing is rich, lyrical, and full of heart.

His 2022 album Forest Floor was a stunner. It shot to the top of the UK Jazz & Blues charts, packed out venues across the country, and earned him a Mercury Prize shortlist spot – not to mention Jazz FM’s Instrumentalist of the Year and the Scottish Album of the Year Award (the first jazz artist ever to win it).

Now, his new record Stream takes that connection with the natural world even deeper. This time, it’s all about water – and the movement, stillness, and energy it brings.

Fergus will be joining us as part of BBC Proms festival weekend on our free introducing stage. Come and hear something wild and wonderful.
