Anna Hughes - Fell Silent
We built churches to become closer to God, shelter to keep us safe, but in doing so lost our spiritual connection, through sound, to the natural world.
Composed and performed by musician and singer Anna Hughes, Fell Silent is an attempt at restoring this connection, a gentle protest against the loss of nature and our connection to it. A call to listen, again.
Anna will share new music and songs as a preview of this project-in-development, where all inspiration has come from looking, and listening outwards – away from the headphones and traffic hum, past the city and disturbance of humans, to a simpler, wilder way of being.
Textured live strings, contemplative songs and field recordings against a backdrop of visuals by Alex Ayre will transform Northern Rock Foundation Hall in to an imagined representation of wildness, of questioning what it is to search for connection between the human and non-human, if that is possible, and the powerful mark it can leave on us.
