What's happening in the music?
Tonight’s concert starts with organised noise, the sounds of objects like tin cans interrupting something… more familiar. Gloria Coates’ Quartet melts and warps time, while Charles Ives’ music uses the physical space of Sage Two, creating a cosmic question and answer session. George Crumb’s Ancient Voices of Children creates a ghostly and surreal atmosphere, contrasting the dissonant and bizarre with profound silence.
