BBC Proms comes to Gateshead for a joyful celebration of ‘classical and contemporary and everything in between.’ With six concerts across three days, there’s something for everyone.
Our home orchestra Royal Northern Sinfonia lead the way. They kick things off with incredible violinist Alena Baeva playing Sibelius’ Violin Concerto, collaborate with Grammy nominated multi-instrumentalist Jordan Rakei for a soulful Saturday, and round off Sunday with a family-friendly Fantasy, Myths and Legends concert.
BBC Radio 3 make themselves at home, broadcasting regular shows as well as concerts live through the week. Late-night favourite Night Tracks makes the leap from studio to stage with an immersive live gig hosted by Hannah Peel and Sara Mohr-Pietsch.
We’re working together with BBC Open Music on BBC Introducing Live – a high energy celebration of top-notch local artists who kick started their career with BBC Introducing.
And get ready to be amazed by Daniel Pioro and Friends, who present an innovative exploration of Elizabethan music and folklore in Sage Two on Sunday afternoon. John Dowland fans, eat your heart out.
Tickets go on sale at 12pm on Thursday 25 April, starting at just £8 for a promming (standing) ticket.
