Artist Reflections - NØELLE

NØELLE

Over two weeks in August, every corner of our building came alive with Summer Studios.

The next generation of musicians from around the UK used the space to create new work and connect with others in the industry. NØELLE is an electronic musician and producer living in Manchester, originally from Ukraine. Here, she tells us about her experience in the Summer Studios 2024 cohort…

“Summer Studios provided so much more than I expected. I wanted to highlight Ukranian culture and heritage through stories I grew up with, using voice notes from my loved ones.

“Conversations with The Glasshouse team helped me understand how creative spaces work and inspired me with their own industry journeys.”

Over the week, I connected with creatives from the North of England, bridging the gap that most early-career artists like me face when trying to grow outside their hometowns. Conversations with The Glasshouse team helped me understand how creative spaces work and inspired me with their own industry journeys.

A spatial audio rig makes sound happen where you want. Think Cinema, when there’s an explosion on the right of the screen, that’s where the sound will come from. This helped me explore how my music and artistic process can interact.  Since then, I’ve restructured how I’ll play live for the rest of the year.

Residencies such as Summer Studios are key milestones for creatives like me, offering not only space to create but also opportunities to connect and grow within such an inspiring environment.
