Love is in the air at The Glasshouse. The venue’s got a bunch of shows from 14 February and gift recommendations lined up as perfect Valentine’s treats. Whether audiences want to indulge themselves or someone special, The Glasshouse has the concert for them.

Pulses will race on 14 and 15 February when Britain’s most successful dance group, Diversity, return to The Glasshouse with their brand-new tour, Supernova.

Isata Kanneh-Mason, one of six musically gifted siblings, and Royal Northern Sinfonia share their passionate take on Beethoven’s ‘Eroica’ Symphony on 16 February. It’s the ultimate date night.

For anyone celebrating Valentine’s with pals and after a lively party where the audience becomes part of the magic, Girls Night In: The Round features Kezia Gill, Jade Helliwell, Demi Marriner and Jess Thristan on 16 February. And what about a dreamy, atmospheric gig? Alison Goldfrapp arrives on 22 February. The magnetic artist set a towering bar for synth-pop in the 21st century.

Concert fans looking for unforgettable gifts for their special someone, can buy tickets for shows throughout the spring too.

Take a whirlwind trip through the West End and Broadway with Royal Northern Sinfonia’s A Night at the Musicals on 8 March.

The stage is set for the return of multi-platinum selling artist Lemar on 5 April. The singer songwriter kickstarts his Closer Tour at The Glasshouse with fan-favourites and tracks from his latest album.

There’s a chance to go globe-trotting with Martin James Bartlett and Piano Greats on 7 April, bustling through 17th-century France to 20th-century America via Spain and Argentina.

On 14 April, Royal Northern Sifonia, Chorus of Royal Northern Sinfonia and Louise Alder’s singing will induce goosebumps for the forgotten masterpiece Paradise and the Peri by Robert Schumann. On the same bill, Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto will leave listeners breathless.

Malcolm Critten, Principal, Viola of Royal Northern Sinfonia, says,

“This is a rare chance to hear Schumann’s Paradise and the Peri. So rare, in fact, I’ve never heard or played the piece in all my years with the orchestra. I’m really looking forward to a new experience. There are some fantastic vocal soloists and our very own Chorus.”

And those unsure about what to buy for their loved one this Valentine’s Day, a gift voucher from The Glasshouse might just hit the spot.

The Glasshouse International Centre for Music

The Glasshouse International Centre for Music is a home for live music lovers.

It’s a place where you can hear rock legends or pop icons on the same night as folk trios or string quartets. Where new musicians are nurtured and showcased on the same stages as platinum-selling performers. And where youth choirs and tambourine-shaking toddlers practise in the same spaces as its acclaimed orchestra, Royal Northern Sinfonia.

Because as an international centre for music they’re focused on creating and celebrating outstanding music – whether that’s unearthing or growing talent from the region or bringing the world’s best artists to their stages. And as a charity they’re focused on making sure all of that is available to anyone – no matter where you’re from, how old you are, how much money you have, or what challenges you face.

Which is why every year more than 2 million people are able to join for top-notch gigs, concerts, and classes – in their venue at Gateshead Quays, out in communities across the North East, and through livestreamed performances and digital lessons.

Whether you’re making it up or taking it in, you’ll find music lives and grows there.

• From global stars to artists starting out, The Glasshouse has hosted 10,022 performances, totalling 4.7m tickets. To have seen every performance would have meant seeing one show every day for 27 years.
• It’s hosted over 220,000 music lessons for North East folk. The region’s young people have learnt to play, sing or produce with us, on over 1.7m occasions.
• Royal Northern Sinfonia perform at The Glasshouse, tour the region, and have played to international audiences on four continents, with livestreams reaching people across five.
• Like stepping stones, artists like Ward Thomas have worked their way from their free stages to selling out its big hall and getting global recognition.
• The Glasshouse regularly opens its doors to a wide range of conferences and events. Since 2004, they’ve welcome over 400,000 delegates from the likes of Greggs, NHS and British Engines, and many, many more.
• The charity is one of Gateshead’s biggest employers, and so far it’s generated £500m of economic value to the region.
• The charity has been the proud guardians of The Glasshouse for almost 20 years, safeguarding it when live music was put on hold during the pandemic.
