Step Up Wind and Brass

DSC_0358-v2

The Step Up Wind programme is for young people keen to play a woodwind or brass instrument.

Students are welcome to join on any wind instrument, and during their lessons they will have the opportunity to find out more about the flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, tuba and French horn; guidance on the suitability and appropriate age to start these instruments will be available.

The programme includes:

  • 30 minute 1:1 lesson
  • A recorder ensemble which encourages all the wind players to work as a small group
  • Rehearsals as part of the Step Up orchestras
  • A musicianship session which consists of group activities, including games and exercises, to develop essential musicianship skills using the principles of Kodaly and Dalcroze.

There are 30 teaching weeks and three performance days scheduled over the academic year.
