The Step Up Strings programme is for young people to develop their skills in violin, viola, cello and double bass.
The curriculum includes:
- Individual instrumental lesson
- 45 – 60 minute Musicianship Session
- 30 minute small ensembles
- 60 minute Orchestra
When the Step Up Programme is oversubscribed priority is given to those completing Foundation Strings.
There are 30 teaching weeks and three performance days scheduled over the academic year. Musicianship sessions, Orchestra and most instrumental lessons are scheduled on a Saturday morning.

Age: School Years 4 – 9
Day & Time: Saturday 9am – 2pm. Individual timetables will be provided.
Fees: £405 per term (from Sep 24)

Our Young Musicians Programme is open to all children and young people, whatever their circumstances. We are keen to encourage applicants from the widest possible range of backgrounds and access a bursary where needed.
