Work Experience

The Glasshouse credit Mark Savage

Whether you’re dreaming of a life on stage or behind the scenes, we’re here to help you take those first steps.

There are loads of ways for you to get involved, discover what makes The Glasshouse tick, and explore the exciting world of music, performance, and live events.

Even though this year’s placements are full, we’ve always got music-making opportunities, volunteering, youth projects and live events that need creative and passionate people like you.  So stay curious. Stay connected. And who knows – maybe we’ll see you on stage (or backstage) very soon.

What's work experience at The Glasshouse like?

Our week-long work experience programme is a brilliant opportunity to dive headfirst into the music and performance industry. You’ll get to rotate through different departments – from lighting and tech to programming, artist development, and even classical music – getting hands-on experience with the teams that make the magic happen.

About The Glasshouse

At The Glasshouse, we bring together music lovers, performers, creatives and curious minds. On any given day, you might catch a rock legend, a folk trio, a school choir, or our very own world-class orchestra – Royal Northern Sinfonia – all under the same roof.

We’re more than just a venue – we’re a creative hub. Whether it’s a chart-topping gig, a song writing session, or a family music workshop, it takes a huge team to make it all happen. And that’s where you could come in.

Getting involved

Got your heart set on trying something specific – like sound engineering, stage lighting, graphic design or artist management? Or maybe you’re not quite sure what’s out there and just want to explore your options?

Drop us a message at recruitment@theglasshouseicm.org. We’re happy to have a chat, answer questions, and point you in the right direction. If we can help you find a way in, we will.
