Expression of Interest - Tyneside Promoter Network Freelance Fundraiser

A group of people sitting in a circle discussing topics

We’re looking for freelance fundraisers to help support North East grassroots music businesses as part of the Tyneside Promoter Network.

The Tyneside Promoter Network (TPN) is a group of grassroots venues, promoters, festivals, artist development organisations and artists who come together to share information, expertise and opportunities to support and promote music and musicians in Tyneside.

Since 2022, The Glasshouse and Generator have led the quarterly Tyneside Promoter Network meetings but will now be stepping aside from leading roles. As part of the ongoing development of TPN, we secured funding to commission a freelance fundraiser to support members of the network, from the North East Combined Authority (NECA) Events and Festivals Capacity Development Fund.

Accessing funding remains a major challenge for grassroots businesses. Through this work, we want to find ways to help strengthen the North East grassroots music sector and improve ‘readiness’ for future funding opportunities.

The NECA fund is available until the end of March 2026 and so TPN want to create a simple process to allow businesses to access support quickly through freelance fundraisers.

How it works

We’ve established a small independent panel to select the freelance fundraiser(s). They’ll also assess the requests from the network and allocate support, such as how much time they need.

The business and fundraiser will work together to define the work and how time is spent. For example, writing a small funding application (below £30k), contributing to a funding application or refining an existing application.

Depending on time available and the demand from the network, more than one fundraiser may be selected.

Timeline

Mon 15 Dec: Deadline for applications for freelance fundraiser

Wed 17 Dec: Freelance fundraiser(s) notified by the panel

Mon 5 Jan: Introductions between Tyneside Promoter Network SMEs and freelancer begin.

Until 23 Mar: Fundraising support work

About the funding

Tyneside Promoter Network secured NECA funding to help:

  1. Explore ways for the network to become sustainable including new models for group leadership and facilitation, and reimbursing attendees for their time.
  2. Help develop the sustainability of the sector through specific support for TPN and wider grassroots businesses.
  3. Provide additional resource and advocacy for grassroots businesses and artists through freelance fundraiser support, research, reports and other work to support fundraising and workshops and surgeries for wider grassroots businesses.
