Everything music can do. Under one iconic roof.

Designed and built for live music in 2004. Home to spine-tingling, mind-blowing, life-affirming experiences ever since. Join us for the next era as we celebrate twenty years of music. And one big future.

Over the next year, we’re going to celebrate all the great things our charity has achieved in the last two decades and look ahead to our ambitious third decade.

Time to hit play on twenty years of music.

A home for artists

The Glasshouse is a home for artists – a place where they’re supported, inspired, and celebrated. From Sage One regulars, our Artistic Partners and musical family, first time performers and everyone in between.

Are you ready to feel the music?

We asked young people at The Glasshouse how powerful music is in their lives. The result? A celebration of all the incredible ways music shapes us – from building confidence and making new friends to simply finding joy.

We’re all fans.

You’ll always see one of us at a gig. To celebrate 20 years of live music at The Glasshouse, we asked our team to make a playlist inspired by their favourite concerts over the years. Headphones on.

Ready for our third decade

We want The Glasshouse to provide a world-class home for music for the next generation. For our third decade, it’s all about unlocking our creative potential to create a music-filled future for the North East.

So we’ve got four big goals:

1. Establish a new Music Academy for young people – opening the doors to a life full of music right from the start.
2. Be the most affordable music centre in Europe – making sure money is never a barrier to music.
3. Enter our most creatively ambitious era yet – enabling world-class artists and homegrown musicians to make and perform their best work.
4. Invest in our iconic building so it continues to inspire, welcome and wow for generations to come.

Twenty years of music. One big future.

Since opening in 2004, The Glasshouse has become a driving force for cultural and economic growth in the North East, inspiring millions through live music, education and community programmes.

To mark our 20th anniversary year, and to kick start our ambitious third decade, we created a social and economic impact report for our charity.
