RNS Moves with Candoco Dance Company

Part of Royal Northern Sinfonia: Out and about

Royal Northern College of Music

Minimal. Meditative. Bursting with life.

This is music that pulses and glows. That loops, shifts, and builds – creating something powerful from the barest of beginnings.

RNS Moves – a bold, boundary-breaking inclusive ensemble of disabled musicians and non-disabled members of Royal Northern Sinfonia bring together music old and new, fragile and fierce.

You’ll hear everything from the hypnotic swell of Glassworks by Philip Glass to the playful energy of Julius Eastman’s Joy Boy. You’ll move from the delicate textures of Caroline Shaw’s Plan & Elevation to Terry Riley’s ground-breaking In C – a piece that shattered the rulebook and shaped a whole new sound. There’s drama in the quiet too, Thomas Tallis brings stark, clear beauty, while Henry Purcell pins everything on a single, unwavering note. And you’ll feel deep, contained emotion in James MacMillan’s Memento.

Expect stillness that hums with energy. Echoes from centuries ago. Jolts of something entirely new. You won’t just hear this music – you’ll feel it.
