In the emptiness of Iceland, Anna Thorvaldsdottir kindles a flame against a darkness that lasts all winter long. In eighteenth century Salzburg, the young Mozart dances the night away. And Benjamin Britten enlists a horn player, a tenor and some of the greatest poems in the English language for a luminous journey through to dawn.
