What do you see – and hear – once the sun has set? Out on the great plain of Hungary, Béla Bartók hears a nocturnal rhapsody of insects and shivering leaves. In the emptiness of Iceland, Anna Thorvaldsdottir kindles a flame against a darkness that lasts all winter long. In eighteenth century Salzburg, the young Mozart dances the night away. And Benjamin Britten enlists a horn player, a tenor and some of the greatest poems in the English language for a luminous journey through to dawn. The superb young Swedish conductor Daniel Blendulf is our guide to an evening of music that glows in the dark.
