Depth. Horizontalism. Infinite unique experience possibilities.

SPUME by Natalie Sharp is the culmination of Natalie’s time as a 2024/25 Artist in Residence at The Glasshouse. It’s an immersive installation where each audience member will get something different out of the experience.

SPUME is about:

Horizontalism , deep listening, Greek siren mythology through a matriarchal lens, interconnecting edge-lines of humans with the coastline, tactile and bone conduction transducers, summoning and becoming, refracting and reflecting water mirrors lying horizontally underneath an infinite sea canopy and intersectional environmentalism.

But most of all, it’s about communion.

About Natalie Sharp

Nat_Sharp_landscape

Natalie Sharp is a British artist, musician, and radical body activist known for pushing boundaries and challenging societal norms. Natalie has spent over 15 years honing a multidisciplinary practice spanning performance, music, sculpture, and costume design.

As a disabled artist, Natalie’s work is a form of radical body activism, confronting ableism in social spaces like music halls and nightclubs by creating safe, inclusive environments where people with disabilities can express themselves freely. Her performances feature elaborate costumes and sculptural elements that transform her body into fantastical forms, exploring identity, gender, and human-nature relationships.

Through her work, she subverts conventional beauty standards and empowers others to embrace their unique bodies and identities. A leading voice in radical body activism, her work has gained national and international recognition, redefining perceptions of physical ability and appearance.
