Mozart's Clarinet Quintet

Who’s on stage
Enjoy a standout evening with Royal Northern Sinfonia playing music by three of the greatest composers of all time.
What they’re playing
We kick off with Ludwig van Beethoven’s sextet. It’s warm, witty, and full of charm – not the brooding Beethoven many people expect. Just six players, but they fill the room with colour and character.
Next up is Franz Joseph Haydn’s ‘Sunrise’ string quartet. It opens in a hush, with the first violin gently climbing like a new day breaking. But don’t get too comfortable, Haydn’s playful streak shines through and the surprises keep coming.
We round things off with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s clarinet quintet – a proper gem, and one of the most-loved pieces in the chamber repertoire. It’s graceful, soulful, and full of warmth.
