This free taster session is a great opportunity for those that want to join in and have a go! You’ll be joining in with the group’s current members, who along with the group’s leader Jason, are looking forward to welcoming you! If you enjoy the session, why not think about signing up for a term.

Performing the best of big band, swing, jump blues, and jazz music from the legendary bands of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Quincy Jones, Benny Goodman, Lionel Hampton, Thad Jones, Harry James and many others. The Swing Band at Sage Gateshead is an ensemble dedicated to bringing the fantastic sounds of the big bands and swing bands to the North East and honouring these amazing musical traditions. Playing primarily in the swing groove and focusing on quintessential repertoire that is the building blocks of modern contemporary music, this ensemble is looking for saxophonists, trombonists, trumpeters, rhythm section players (drums, bass, piano, and guitar).
