Who’s on stage

The finalists of the Lionel Tertis International Viola Competitions 2025, alongside The Glasshouse’s home orchestra Royal Northern Sinfonia. Aged 19 – 30, these talented young violists have made it through three gruelling competition rounds in just one week to get to this moment.

What they’re playing

All finalists will play their choice of a full concerto by Béla Bartók, Edwin York Bowen, Paul Hindemith or William Walton.

Need to know

Pricing: £15 – £35 (plus handling fee).

Age: under 14s must be accompanied by an adult.

Of all the viola concertos, Béla Bartók’s is one of the most popular worldwide. It showcases both the viola’s unique, mellow voice and the technical talent of the player. Listen to previous winner of both the Cecil Aronowitz and Lionel Tertis Competitions, Timothy Ridout, play it with  Sinfonieorchester Aachen.
